Suggested Use:

Fosamax is used to treat osteoporosis which is now known as a disease caused by a hormonal disbalance, age-related calcium shortage in the body, and other medical conditions.

Before Using This Product:

Fosamax can be affected by high levels of several minerals in the body that assure proper formation of new bones. Therefore, if you use any medication that has such components as calcium, iron, aluminum, phosphorus, magnesium, etc., tell your doctor about it so that the right dosage could be prescribed to you. Also talk to your health professional, if you take any of the following medications: acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin), Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), or Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn, Anaprox, Naprelan). Tell your physician if you are a liver or kidney patient; if you have a gastric ulcer, heart problems, allergic response to Fosamax or any of its components; or if you are an expecting or nursing mother. If your condition does not allow you to remain in a seated or vertical position for at least half an hour, you cannot take this medicine. Read all the instructions that come with your drug before you start using it.

Prescription:

Fosamax is used to treat several medical conditions (including osteoporosis) by increasing bone thickness, and preventing fracture and breakage of the bone tissue. If this medicine has been prescribed to you, take it according to the prescription on a daily basis and do not stop taking it ever if you feel better. Do not bite or try to break the capsule or the pill as it may release too much medicine into the body at the same time. Fosamax is an oral drug which should be taken with a full glass of water before breakfast as soon as you wake up. Do not eat for at least half an hour after you take this medicament. It will have even a better effect if taken an hour before breakfast. Do not take it with other medicine, vitamins, or pharmaceutical products at the same time. Fosamax should always be used without a meal in order to insure its effectiveness. Remain in a vertical position for half an hour. You may lie down only after you have breakfast. You may take other medicine with such components as calcium, iron, aluminum, phosphorus, and magnesium half an hour after you take Fosamax or after a meal. The drug should be kept at indoor temperatures, away from excessive humidity and direct sun rays. If you use this medicine every day and you missed one dose, take the medicine as soon as you can. If you missed a dose and it is already time to take another one, do not take two doses at the same time. Take one dose and continue taking Fosamax as directed by your physician.

Warnings:

If you may develop an allergic response for this medication or any of its components, Fosamax is not for you. Laboratory tests and medical examination may provide required information regarding the progress of your treatment and let your doctor choose the right dosage for you. Come to see your physician every time you schedule a meeting. An adequate supply of calcium and vitamin D is essential in treating diseases of the bone tissue. Consult your health specialist to make sure that you have the right nutrition and selection of food for that purpose. Do not start taking any other medications without talking to your physician first, as some of them may trigger adverse reaction. Some of those drugs are used quite commonly, for example, acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin), Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), or Naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn, Anaprox, Naprelan). If you are an expecting or nursing mother, talk to your medical specialist to make sure that your Fosamax treatment will not interfere or harm your baby’s development and growth.

Unwanted Adverse Reaction:

Misuse or overdose of this medicine may set in motion some adverse processes in the body. The common side effects are: pain in the muscles, headache, gas, gastric pain, sickness, retching, or upset stomach. Call your physician as soon as you can if you experience one of the following conditions: a burning sensation in the stomach, sore throat, bloody stool, or pain in the chest. Some people may develop an allergic response to this medicine or its components. Signs of such allergic response are skin eruption, swelling of the face and neck, giddiness, sleeplessness, labored respiration and others. Call for immediate professional assistance as soon as you notice any of the conditions mentioned above.

More Info:

Treating osteoporosis and other diseases of the bone tissue is a complex process. Taking drugs may be accompanied by other therapies that will help stop resorption of bones. Special dieting can prevent porosity and fragility of the bones due to loss of calcium and other important elements from the bone matrix. Your doctor may prescribe a range of physical therapies that include exercising and a lot of walking. You should remember that you should not take this drug for other health problems. If you have been taking Fosamax for quite a long period of time and you know it is safe for you, you can always buy more supply online.

Mixing with Other Drugs and Foods:

You should always be aware that taking this medicine with any other drug is not safe as sometimes it can lead to unpredictable adverse reactions. Therefore, do not risk using Fosamax with any other pharmaceutical products unless you have your doctor’s approval.
